From Highrise Digs to Toronto Basements
Pro Excavation Toronto grew out of two decades on Toronto job sites. Our founder, Marko Pavlovic P.Eng, started in 2003 with a highrise excavation subcontractor, where deep shoring, bulk digs and tight downtown logistics were daily work. From 2010 to 2018 he led the underpinning division of a mid-sized Toronto general contractor, lowering basements in Victorian semis, 1920s detached homes and post-war bungalows across the city.
Over those years one pattern kept repeating. Projects stalled because the plans were rejected, a neighbour objected, or an excavator hit a line nobody had located. Homeowners were handed verbal estimates that grew with every change order. In 2018 Marko launched Pro Excavation Toronto to do it differently: an engineer who reviews the site before a deposit, an expeditor who files the permit, an owned fleet with its own hydrovac, and a written fixed-price quote within 24 hours.
Today the same process runs on residential underpinning, commercial excavation and GTA industrial site prep, from a Leslieville semi to a 28,000 sq ft warehouse pad in Mississauga.

Marko Pavlovic P.Eng founded Pro Excavation Toronto as a dedicated underpinning and excavation practice in 2018, after starting with a Toronto highrise excavation subcontractor in 2003 and leading the underpinning division of a mid-sized Toronto general contractor from 2010 to 2018. He brings 22+ years of combined Toronto excavation and underpinning experience across industrial, commercial and residential work, and is known for the pre-contract P.Eng site review most excavators will not provide until a deposit is paid.
That pre-contract review matters because the structural method decides the budget. Marko looks at the footing, the wall material, the soil and the neighbour's setback first, so the quote you receive is built on what is actually under your house rather than a guess that turns into change orders later.
